The Return & The Fire

Wow, I feel the need to get reacquainted within this first blog post. It feels like I’m writing for the first time and needless to say, it feels so good to write again.

To catch you all up to speed, in hopefully a short-winded summary, the first quarter of 2012 included a few big changes. As of January 1st, I changed training facilities from FX Studios in Baltimore to Evolution Sports (still in Baltimore). Also, within the first week of February, I moved homes AND Evolution Sports opened a brand new facility which is a beautiful 6,000 sq ft training spot equipped with just about every training tool we could wish for.

Those few months required my attention mainly to focus on building my immediate environment at home and at work. In the nooks and crannies of time came my own training, Girls Gone Strong and personal relationships. I made the decision to dial back the social media and blogging because something in the equation had to give.

In the months leading up to these changes, I also decided to take a bit of a break from the structure of my own training and nutrition lead by Carter Schoffer. It was merely a temporary break, but by the end a few months, I had started to sense that my schedule, performance and physique all thrived better when I was teamed up with Carter. He and I anticipated a start date for February 13th and we are now in our 10th week of programming (we operate in four week blocks).

Shortly after getting settled into my new home, new training facility, new clients and my own nutritional & training schedule, I felt ready to reenter the blogging world only to find my website went down!! This was a bit of a bummer because I was really getting the itch to connect and write, but in the grand scheme of things, I wasn’t going to sweat the issue. Many, many thanks to all the time, work and energy my wonderful Web developer put into fixing the issues. He is so generous and amazing and I probably owe him a year supply of quality scotch for all the hassle :)

With all that being said, I AM BACK and I am really looking forward to connecting in with everyone again. I am looking forward to picking up with my favorite quotes, music playlists, inspirational messages, what’s going on with my training and nutrition, and of course Girls Gone Strong.

In the meantime, connect with me via Twitter! To me it’s the next best thing to text messages and it’s my most frequent way of interacting these days @AlliMcKeeFit

Last but not least, so not to leave you all empty handed, below is one of my recent favorite songs / messages that gets me fired up from the heart… Have a great Thursday, Everyone and Keep Grinding!!

Xo,
Alli

The Fire - The Roots & John Legend

There’s something in your heart,
and its in your eyes

It’s the fire, inside you

Let it burn

You don’t say good luck

You say don’t give up

It’s the fire, inside you

Let it burn

Yeah, and if I’m ever at the crossroads
and start feeling mixed signals like Morse code
My soul start to grow colder than the North Pole
I try to focus on the hole of where the torch goes
In the tradition of these legendary sports pros
As far as I can see, I’ve made it to the threshold
Lord knows I’ve waited for this a lifetime
And I’m an icon when I let my light shine
Shine bright as an example of a champion
Taking the advantage, never copping out or canceling

Burn like a chariot, learn how to carry it
Maverick, always above and beyond average
Fuel to the flame that I train with and travel with
Something in my eyes say I’m so close to having the prize
I realise I’m supposed to reach for the skies
Never let somebody try to tell you otherwise

There’s something in your heart,
and its in your eyes

It’s the fire, inside you

Let it burn

You don’t say good luck

You say don’t give up

It’s the fire, inside you

Let it burn

One love, one game, one desire
One flame, one bonfire, let it burn higher
I never show signs of fatigue or turn tired
cause I’m the definition of tragedy turned triumph
It’s David and Goliath, I made it to the eye of
the storm, feeling torn like they fed me to the lions
Before my time start to wind down like the Mayans
I show ‘em how I got the grind down like a science
It sounds like a riot on hush, it’s so quiet

The only thing I hear is my heart, I’m inspired
by the challenge that I find myself standing eye to eye with
Then move like a wise warrior and not a coward
You can’t escape the history that you was meant to make
That’s why the highest victory is what I’m meant to take
You came to celebrate, I came to cerebrate
I hate losing, I refuse to make the same mistake

The fire, the fire…
You say don’t give up

It’s the fire, inside you
Let it burn
The fire, inside you

Glad to see you back on the InterWeb Alli…although, I’m relieved I’m not far from Evolution Physiotherapy in case of future withdrawal! I hope the transitions have gone smoothly and can’t wait to read more awesome articles from you in the near future.

Got something to say? Go for it!
