Talking Shop and Motivation

Last week was an exciting professional week to say the least!! In a span of five days, I had the pleasure of interviewing with Jim Laird for BlogTalkRadio (Wednesday 8/17) followed by Kevin Larrabee on TheFitCast (Thursday 8/18). The very next day I was packing my bags to head out to Cincinnati, OH / Covington, KY to train and experience a weekend with a group of remarkable women that exceeded my expectations on all levels. I will share with you the Beautiful Badass Weekend in the next post.

If you haven’t seen or listened to the interviews already, you can find the interview with Jim Laird here on BlogTalkRadio. Among many topics, Jim digs into my history as a lover of strength training, my lottery ticket of mentors plus the takeaways I have gotten from each of them. We also talk marathon running, strength training for women, my personal philosophies and much more. It’s a 90 minute live interview - be sure to book mark it and check it out when you can. (Thanks so much again, Jim!!)

Jim is an awesome guy and Strength & Conditioning Coach / Personal Trainer based out of Lexington, KY. He co owns J & M Strength & Conditioning with the lovely Molly Galbraith.

It was also an honor to be invited back on to TheFitCast with Kevin Larrabee . Back in March of 2010, Kevin interviewed Nick Tumminello and I about the preparation and training we were about to embark on for one of my Figure Competitions. It was so awesome to go back on his show as a further developed professional in the industry of strength training and speak about training for women. Kevin and I had a great conversation on recent and current events that I have participated in, my most recent personal training regimen with the wonderful Carter Schoffer, as well as my perspective on training women. Again, if you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, I highly suggest you do (not to mention his other interviews). This interview runs roughly an hour and can be found here.

Kevin, in addition to operating a hugely popular Podcast, also trains out of Mike Boyle’s facility in Boston. To my understanding, Kevin is making an effort to highlight a handful of women in the upcoming month on TheFitCast. Make sure you all keep an eye (and ear) on it!

Thank you again Kevin, I really really enjoyed our conversation and look forward to coming up to MBSC in the fall.

Now, as for the Beautiful Badass Weekend.. the following video has been circulating Facebook, but in case you haven’t seen it yet.. here is a teaser for the recap ;) and a glimpse of our “Badass” Training!

Hahaha.. I am so glad we got that on camera.. it was such a “moment” :) …I don’t think those girls will ever let me forget it, nor would I want to ;) …as for training… just wait, grand things are in store regarding what this group is going to bring to the strength and conditioning world — I don’t want to give away any brainstorming secrets yet but you can count on seminars and workshops around the country. Thanks for the love, Kara! Sending it back to ya!
