The Tree of Inner Strength

Inner strength begins to grow when we get to know ourselves. When we know what we want, when we stand for what we deserve and when we believe in what we’re capable of doing.

I see Inner Strength like a tree. Trees grow by producing new cells in a very limited number of places. These places of cell division are called meristems. Meristems are zones of intense activity. They are where all new cells are formed and where they expand.

In us, Inner Strength grows in a limited number of places. These so called meristems are our hearts and our minds. It is in these zones where intense activity develops and expands our sense of self and our strong spirit.

Our Inner Strength can branch out in a lot of different ways…
The decisions we make.
Going against the naysayers to pursue our dream.
The way we allow someone to treat (or not treat) us.
The way we treat others.
Owning our wrongs.
Pushing our physical ability.
Standing back up when life knocks us down.
Trusting our heart.
Believing in our ability.
Acting according to our values.
Speaking the truth.
Pushing through the finish line.
Seeking out the support of others.
And sometimes it takes strength to know when to hold ‘em and other times, it takes more strength to know when to fold ‘em.

When the roots of our inner strength grow deep and we act in alignment to what we want, what we deserve and what we are capable of, we let our inner light shine. We have the perspective and ability to keep our chin up, our heart strong and our eyes forward. The most beautiful blossom as a result of our inner strength is our smile.

Trees are strong. They weather the environment, live for 100′s of years and are known for giving shelter…but they take time to grow. Inner Strength is very much the same. Be true, be kind and

Perfect post my Alli Girl as I have encouraged 50 women to participate in their first Sprint Triathlon on Sunday May 20th. 98% never believed they could do it when I first approached them. HA… they have trained and trained and I have watched their confidence build and I have watched them achieve feats (open water swimming for one) they never believed they could do. We draw on our own inner strength and we draw on those around us who “believe” in us which in turns helps us to ‘believe in ourselves”. I always tell people, after you accomplish a feat you fear… you need never fear again as you already did it once… If you can do it once, you can do it again.
I am posting this blog on my IRON GIRLS ROCK Facebook, Alli, and sharing with all my IRON GIRLS… Incredible fearless women… proving once again… We can do anything we want to… We just have to want to bad enough! Sending love your way darlin! I remember how scared I was last year at this time for my first Iron Girl and you helped me to believe in myself and that I could accomplish that goal… You were right.. It’s only fair to keep encouraging others.. Afterall… what greater gift to give each other than the gift of accomplishing great feats we never dreamed possible! :)

      Hi Lisa,

You are so Awesome. I love your enthusiasm and positive energy. I remember your goals last year and I am so glad you’re continuing to thrive and inspire those around you. I 100% believe we are capable to accomplish anything we dream but I also believe support helps and we draw strength from those around us. Hence, it’s so important to build a village of those who support and boost our dreams, spirits and efforts. Sounds like you do that for many :)

Thanks for being you and cheers!!

Got something to say? Go for it!
